Just came back from watching Across the Spider-Verse and now I want to write superhero fic which... isn't really a thing I do anymore. With the exception of one storyline I play with just for fun.
So here is some PR/MCU drabble... snippet... thing I thought of on the way home.

AJ planted a knee into Marie's chest, the pearl and garnet dagger pressed against her throat. Sweat dripped into AJ's eyes and onto Marie's cheeks. AJ blinked it away, willing herself to stay focused on the threat at hand.
No longer was Marie her adopted mother.
No longer was she to be trusted.
No longer would AJ listen to Marie's lies.
Marie's chuckle shook the blade against her skin. "You'll never be more than a weapon."
Years of training flashed through AJ's mind. Her real mother's katana lie on the ground a few feet away. She was a black belt, a Power Ranger, an Avenger. She could break a bone without breaking a sweat. If Marie -- and HYDRA -- had their way, she would be their crowning glory.
But Marie didn't get to decide AJ's fate.
"Maybe," AJ conceded, "but at least I'll be the one to choose when to use it."
Marie grinned. The cyanide capsule burst in her mouth. AJ didn't have to slit her throat before Marie's body convulsed into death throes, foam dripping from her lips and towards AJ's blade.
Her body went limp long before AJ went to move. She slid the dagger back into place at her belt. She was still leaning over Marie when Kim, Trini, and Steve finally burst through the door.
