Summary: Steve Rogers' relationship with Julianne Simone is blooming. After Julianne finally accepts Steve's role as Captain America, the couple grows closer and closer. Julianne gives Steve a place to relax behind closed doors, and Steve encourages Julianne to chase the dreams she'd once thought lost.

But when Julianne learns she, too, has unique powers, the couple - along with their friends Bucky and Darcy - embark on a road trip to Julianne's hometown to find some answers. Along the way, Steve is forced to reconsider what he wants out of life. Does he want to be Stevie, artist and Julianne's boyfriend, or Captain America? Who is the man behind the shield, really?

A sequel to With These Hungry Eyes.

Delicate steps crossed from one side of the studio to the other. Bare feet floated as if she were walking over the finest carpet instead of polished wood floors.

Her skirt swirled around her legs with each step. Sweat dripped down her neck and soaked through her sports bra. Her hips kept time with the music.

She balanced on one foot and brought her other leg up into the air. She twirled and spun, flipping over the bar built into the wall. Blonde hair fell into her eyes, but it did nothing to deter her concentration.

Steve Rogers had never seen a woman more beautiful in his entire life.

Finally finished the second edit of What's Meant To Be (Will Always Find A Way). It posts next Thursday, December 16. Final word count: 49,935, with rewrites.

I did a fair amount more rewriting this round than I thought I was going to, but that's okay. I rearranged some scenes, went from 19 chapters to 17, and hopefully fixed all the things Bailey pointed out to me in their notes. I hope I did enough, that it gets something of a good reception.

I could also probably rewrite all the fight scenes, again, but I'm running out of time. It's time to let this story go and let others read it.

Now to finish up my Yuletide assignment... which also has to post by next week. Fun times!
I finished the first draft of the sequel to With These Hungry Eyes at write in today!

I ended with a final word count total of 51,583 words. Considering that I estimated the story to be between 50-60k when I wrote the outline, that's right on target! I also broke it up into 20 chapters, but I may end up combining some of them later on. I'm still not good at figuring out where chapters should go anyway. *shrug*

This is the first time I've outlined a big fic completely, from start to finish, and that let me blast through scenes faster than I initially anticipated I would. Doing word sprints also helped - I may keep those up going forward, if only as a way to balance writing new words with editing the other ones.

The fic's current title is What's Meant To Be (Will Always Find A Way), after Trisha Yearwood's "She's In Love With The Boy." That may change between now and publishing it in November, but we'll see what happens.

My current plan is to let it sit for the next two weeks, at least, before doing initial edits. Then I'll send it to Bailey so they can look it over for any major plot overhauls. I'm not terribly worried about line edits, as I'm good with those, and I'm hoping my detailed initial outline means I caught the plot stuff on the outset. Either way, I can't start editing it now because it's still too fresh.

I'm doing great on this, timeline wise. The rough draft is due September 21 and I would love to have edits to Bailey before then. Ideally, let's set a goal of September 1 for edits, but that can change.

Next up: My Press Start fic, which has a title and a general idea, and that's more than I have when I start most exchange fics.
So, I did sign up for [community profile] marvel_bang, working on the sequel to With These Hungry Eyes. And for once in my life, I've actually outlined an entire long fic before I started writing. Like, I know what the ending is already, and how I'm going to get there.

Yeah, I'm surprised too.

I also do not need to wait for Camp NaNo to start again to begin working on this. It's better if I get a head start, so to speak, because my current estimate is that the story will be between 50-60k. I'm going to be here forever, but I don't have that kind of time. What helps, though, is that I have detailed notes about each scene and there's a little bit of flexibility too to change things as I need, which I find helpful. Currently it stands at 26 scenes, chapters to be figured out later.

Since part of the story is taking place in Texas, I dug through Spotify looking for some 80s/90s country songs to help inspire me. This is before modern country music turned into FUCK YEAH, MERICA! and is just pop music with a steel guitar and pisses me off. It's also the stuff I grew up with, and man, there are some kickass female artists from that time.

Amazingly I still remember many, many words to all these songs even though I haven't actively listened to them in well over a decade. I got mad at the first 90s country playlist I found because I needed to know that there was a Mary Chapin Carpenter song on there. Old Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood? Sign me the fuck up. The Chicks singing about not wanting to settle down in "Ready to Run"? Is that not the perfect song for Julianne?

Currently the playlist looks as follows: cut to save your f-list )

Don't mind me, I'm just getting nostalgic over music I don't listen to anymore, lol.

On a side note, this beast also needs a title.
