An update, again!

The final word from corporate on when we can reopen is now Thursday, August 6. They're making us stay closed the full two weeks due to the number of partners who were tested.

Granted, every test came back negative, so everyone is fine and hanging out in their homes. Technically speaking, I guess that means I don't need to be in full self-isolation, but at the same time, if I don't need to go somewhere, I don't. That's just common sense in a COVID world. I can go shopping once a week, do curbside pickup when I can (I was finally able to order groceries online for the first time in four months), and hang out in the house.

Most of my co-workers are going stir crazy. Me? I pulled out my cross stitch and started doing word sprints in order to knock out word count. It's going well so far. And in case you're wondering, my current cross stitch says "Wash Your Fucking Hands" and will probably hang in my bathroom when it's done. The confetti detail in the background is the RNA code for COVID-19, and is actually really soothing to stitch.

Oh I'm glad you're doing alright! I was worried about you, but glad to hear the store's shut down. Also LOVING your cross stitch! Please show that to my mom or put it on Facebook for her to see, because she'll 200% appreciate it :D

It is fascinating to see who is dealing well with self-isolation and who isn't. Totally cool with wearing a mask and staying the fuck away from everyone!

Honestly, we could go back right now and be fine. The issue they're having now is that they want to try and split us up so we all can't potentially infect each other, so our options are either 1. work 10 or 12 hours shifts or 2. work six shorter days. Both options are bullshit.

Oh, and if something like this happens again, we will not be paid for our lost shifts like we are right now. We only get paid to shut down once, apparently.

You should scroll through the site and look at the other ones Shitpost Sampler does! Their work is great and I had a hard time picking out which one to make, lol. I'm going to post it to Facebook when I have all the words done. At least now I'm going to have the time.

And right? I hate being around people anyway, so I'm fine with this. Also fine with getting to sleep in for another week and do what I want.

I scrolled through some of the cross stitch stuff and lost my collective shit over this one. Also my sister still has the triple go fuck yourself cross stitch by her desk 💕

With work, they're making it "mandatory" that we have our webcams on during conference calls so that "we can see each other and still maintain a human connection" and I'm like but why??????????????? That's fine. If they want my webcam on, they'll have to deal with all my nerdy, gay shit on my desk, the occasional cat appearance, and my chaotic goose shirts ☕

I am 100% sure this is my DM's kneejerk reaction to coming back from vacation to find that four of her stores had closed, including three of the four South Portland locations. We only have nine partners, so like... how is that shit going to work, exactly? They slashed our staff so it's not like there's a ton of us.

But yes, eat the rich.

I love how so many of their patterns are just text which makes them SUPER easy to knock out! I'm going to make all of them at some point. All. of. them.

Pffffft if they have a problem with how you decorate your personal desk, they can fuck off. When we had Zoom meetings for Starbucks, every time someone's pet would show up, it derails the conversation for ten minutes. It's also how my store learned that I have a dog, lol.
