WIP Wednesday!
I'll be honest - I haven't written much "new" stuff in September. I'm still RPing things with Meghan, which is a nice break as far as editing/hauling ass on Ninjetti stuff. I'm currently editing the last big fight scene, and I feel like it'll need another complete overhaul once it goes to beta. That's fine - I expect that, because I never get fight scenes right on the first or fifth or tenth try, so.
I did, however, get to meet up with my NaNoWriMo writing group for the first time this year! I didn't get as much done as I wanted, as they're currently prepping for NaNo and I already have a good idea of what I'm going to work on, so we didn't do word sprints this time. But I did get a bunch of stuff to read re: plot and structure (the handouts Stacy made for this round), as well as a few recommendations on books about writing fight scenes. I'm gonna get good at this shit if it kills me, I swear.
In between conversations, I did write a little bit for Ninjetti at the meetup. Part of the plot of this novel is tying the Rangers to the Sokovia Accords in the MCU, and the fact that the Rangers will not sign them for obvious reasons. Their identities are secret, they're not going to let the government control them, and Angel Grove is split into who thinks the Rangers are heroes and who thinks they should be held responsible for all the damage. Never mind the fact that the Avengers have not shown up to fight the giant monsters, kaythanksbye, and without the Rangers the town would be destroyed.
So I thought it would be fun to have the feds show up in Angel Grove. The Rangers take this about as well as one would expect.
I'm also still tempted to hammer out a treat for Press Start but it wouldn't be ready before reveals. >.> We'll see what happens. I can still gift something later on if I wanted, and I may do that.

The two agents slid up to the bar next to them. AJ sipped at her smoothie, giving them the side eye. Ernie left them to serve them, his smile forced as he greeted them.
“Do we have a plan for how we’re going to deal with them?” Trini whispered.
“By not dealing with them,” Tommy murmured back.
“Knives,” AJ pointed out.
“No,” Jason said.
“Spoilsport.”
“I think only of your arrest record.” This Jason whispered into her hair, kissing beneath her ear.
“Better arrested for assault than everything else.” Though she left one hand on her smoothie, the other slid behind her, reaching for the pearl-handled dagger Jason bought her. He brought his hand down and covered hers, lacing their fingers together. She could hang onto him as much as she wanted - if they caused a scene, then their cover was as good as blown.
Tommy met his sister’s eyes and gave a minute shake of his head. AJ glared, but she didn’t move away from Jason, nor did she acknowledge the two agents behind them.

Date: 2019-09-12 07:39 pm (UTC)Also glad to hear about your NaNo meet up! Are you going to make the write ins during November?
I'll be curious to see what you do with the Rangers and the Sokovia Accords :3c also I'm with AJ on this - knives solve a lot of things.
Uuuuughhh so many treats to write, so little time D: I've resigned myself to writing no treats this year, but I did snag one request and hope to gift it down the road. Dem rarepairs always get me. Regardless of what you do, I hope you had fun with Press Start this year!

Date: 2019-09-12 08:05 pm (UTC)I'm going to try! It'll depend on how my work schedule ends up for November. NaNo split Maine into like, seven or eight regions and I'm just going to choose whichever one Stacy runs, because she's nice and we get along well, and I like how she runs meet ups during the challenge itself. So many of the meetups are at night, and well... unless they're cool with two hyperactive children and not getting anything done, I can't go to those. These ones are Sunday mornings, which is much more manageable.
I'm hoping it's a twist that works out well! Though I'm also about to throw them into Infinity War and, uh... after that the fucking Accords don't matter as much, lol. I'm trying to play with the tension between "these are literally 17 and 18 year old kids" and "these are fucking superheroes" and how it intersects with their normal lives.
Right?? I have a more solid idea now but it won't be done. And I need to be okay with that. I have three (!!!) gifts and I think I'm just feeling guilty that I didn't do more, lol. I'm having fun though!

Date: 2019-09-13 02:54 pm (UTC)Best of luck with the write ins! Always helps when you click with someone else there. Bonus points when it's the person running it :D
Hahaaaaa... oh Infinity War. The other day my sister was watching a thing and I was like "What ya watching" and she's like "Infinity War" and I'm like BUT WHY?????? I dunno, I'm still bitter about how IW and Endgame were handled, but that's what fic is for~
Three gifts!!! That's amazing!!! :D (I also just checked mine and hot damn I also have three!!!) Don't feel bad! You did what you could, which was way beyond what was required from what you've talked about with it, and that's good enough! Trust me, I've been trying to talk myself out of guilt trips in regards to not being able to gift this year, but we need to be gentle with ourselves. We're both going through a lot and should be proud that we did anything at all ♥

Date: 2019-09-13 06:42 pm (UTC)Legit! The first time I went to a meetup, there was only one other person there and it was the ML. I'm glad this one is different!
Yeah.... I still gotta plot out exactly how that's going to go. I know lots of little scenes, but it roughly follows the MCU canon.
if you're worried about your homeboy Vision I think I'm gonna bring back most of who got killed in IW and then kill off some other people sooooooooooo there's thatI still get nervous since it's my first time in the exchange and like... what if they don't like me? What if my recipient doesn't like it? etc. etc. Thanks anxiety. But I guess something in my prompts must have been good for people :3
