You ever just write, and write, and write, and feel like the story you're working on is going nowhere?
It's not that I don't love everything I've written so far for Ninjetti. I think it's good character building, and establishing some important relationships between the Rangers and their families. I also like the idea of the Rangers being allowed to be the teenagers they are and worry about the things that seniors in high school should - which is why prom is a big plot point. (It's gonna get attacked by monsters, but that's besides the point. It's a Power Rangers story, after all.)
I think I've probably started the story at the wrong spot, and what scenes I've written are probably better developed into one-shots to go with the universe that I can post prior to starting Ninjetti proper. I just don't know where else to begin yet, so I know it's better to finish the current draft and see what it looks like and what ideas I have come the end.
I'm also at the point where I'm writing my first MCU characters of this crossover. They're minor characters as far as the MCU is concerned, but also characters I haven't written before, so I'm anxious in my own mind over absolutely nothing. Like I do. They're from Ant-Man, which is one of my newer favorites, and I'm really excited to weave them into the Power Rangers side of things in a way I hope doesn't seem forced. And really, they're just cameos for the span of one scene so I can pick it up waaaay later on. The big MCU character comes in at the very, very end.
Aaaaaand I have completely slacked off on editing. I'm the actual fucking worst. ._. I think once I hit the 35k for Camp, I'm going to stop my lunchtime writing and start editing the hard copy again. It's slow going, but if I don't have a dedicated time for it, I'm just not doing it.
Until then, here's a snippet I rather liked writing this week:

Just when she thought she needed more, Jason pulled back, resting his forehead against hers and breathing hard. His hand stilled her hips, and she didn’t care if his Ranger strength left bruises underneath her jeans. “Come to prom with me,” he breathed to her.
AJ groaned. “Fuck me against the door and I’ll consider it.”
“Why so hesitant about it?” Jason kept still, even when she bucked her hips against him.
“Because it’s me.”
“I don’t follow.” He ducked his head down, leaving nipping kisses along her throat. AJ moaned, digging her fingers into his shoulders, but his hands held her still. “Explain it to me?”

Y E S ._.
Such a horrible feeling, but words are words and if it helps you figure out what you actually need for your plot, then go for it! Still frustrating nonetheless.
I'm excited to see how the MCU characters work into this story, too :D
Ah, the lovely balance of editing and writing... I hate it :( also feel you there. Habit pledge for both of us next year, it seems like! ♥
Dawwww and I love that snippet! :D sounds like typical AJ. Damnit, now I can't wait to read it and find out what happens ♥ ♥ ♥

Date: 2019-07-23 05:14 pm (UTC)This one features Maggie and Cassie Lang! ;) And a spoiler character at the very end, which leads directly into Infinity War. *steeples fingers* That ending isn't going to change even if I break things up.
You know, I hadn't considered the habit pledge at all for me, but considering I haven't written only like, two days this year, I can probably swing doing the master pledge and worry less about word count. I also hadn't figured I was taking on as massive a project as this, either, so oops.
Thank you! ♥ AJ is the type who totally would fuck her boyfriend while on school property because she'd get off on the high of almost being caught, while Jason is less likely to think that's a good idea. But only a smidge, he's trying to toss off his "perfect angel" persona for a while now. :D I enjoy writing them a good bit.

Date: 2019-07-24 06:10 pm (UTC)*gaaaaasp* I am hype for the MCU bits :D
I am jelly and SUPER PROUD of your writing dedication! I love how you accidentally took on a huge project and I came into this with a huge project and... proceeded to ignore it to write smaller projects and oneshots. Go us.
I can't wait to read about AJ :D but you knew that!

Date: 2019-07-24 10:10 pm (UTC)Or I'm overthinking things. Idk. I may try breaking things up and if I want to reconnect them later, I can. Whatever gets it written, right?
Awwww thanks bb! It's all Matt's fault. We were talking about the 2017 Power Rangers verse and the old stories I had written in college (they're shit. they're actual shit never look for them) and he was the one who suggested that AJ was Tommy's twin and it went downhill from there.
I'm gonna get a draft to you by the end of the summer. I promise. ♥
