This was take one of my hlh_shortcuts assignment. Robert and Gina de Valicourt only appear in one episode of Highlander: The Series and good lord, I love them. They're immortals who married each other 300 years ago and nearly get divorced. Duncan tries to stop them by getting Methos involved and Methos does. not. give. a. shit. about either of them, it's great.

It's one of the lighthearted episodes in a series that gets real dark later on, so it's nice to have that breather in between. It's also guest starring Robert Daltrey as Fitz, even though they killed Fitz off at the end of season three, Daltrey just really liked playing him so they kept writing him into flashbacks.

The whole episode is on youtube and it's worth it for the end. Start at 44:30 and you'll understand why I love Gina so much.

Anyways. The fic involved a party at the de Valicourts, and Gina trying to convince Amanda to help her steal back some jewelry that somehow ended up in the hands of the French government. I probably need to research more to make it believable, but I was having fun writing it for a while.

Here's a snippet!

Humming as she took a sip, Gina tried to look nonchalant. Years of reading people told Amanda she wasn’t. “Duncan’s spoken so much about you over the years. A bit like meeting a legend, if you will.”

“I could get used to being called a legend.” Other than the Watchers, her exploits were more for her own thrill - and survival - than wanting to make the record books. But Amanda’s cheeks warmed all the same. It was nice to meet someone who didn’t turn up their nose at her chosen career, even if she wasn’t actively looking for work. “You’re a bit of a legend yourself, you know. Not everyone can stand the thought of being married to one of us, much less stay with them for three centuries.”

A coo slipped past Gina’s lips, and her cheeks flushed. “Robert and I are meant to be together,” she said. “We have our differences, everyone does, but even when I thought I could leave him, I’ve come to realize how lost I would be without him.” Her eyes flicked around the room, settling on where Robert and Duncan were chatting. Methos had a drink in hand and offered a comment, but the women were too far away to make out what was being said. “I was referring to a certain skill set of yours.”

“Ah.” Amanda reached over, plucking a carrot from the vegetable tray. A little slight of hand, and she’d tucked it away into her clutch. “Those skills?”

Gina beamed. “Precisely.”
