remember more than you'd like to forget;
I still don't know if WIP Wednesday is a thing I'm going to keep doing in the long run, but today I have things to talk about, so hey, what the hell.
NaNo is going pretty well actually, considering all the things I have to do this week. It's book fair week, so I'm at Q's school two nights this week (since no one else wants to be there the whole time) which cuts into my writing time. I'm ahead on word count because between this and the craft fair next weekend, my hands are full.
I decided to try and write out the prom/Island of Illusion section of Seven Seas of Rhye, and I'm doing pretty well in that regard. I've also been able to go to write ins with a lot more frequency - my writing group is pretty decent, and we give away prizes for whoever writes the most during the meeting. I've won two Sundays in a row! XD I also ended up with three weekends off in a row (two I requested, one as a bonus) so that's helping tremendously.
Last Sunday I managed to draft a rough version of the fight with Dramole that sends the Rangers to the Island of Illusion. I hadn't gone back to read it because I know it's really rough - most of my fight scenes are, but at least I'm through it - and I found this passage to be particularly hilarious.
In other news, I think I'm going to restart my
hlh_shortcuts assignment. I still adore my original idea, but I'm not sure it suits the recipient as well as I'd hoped. Also, I'm second guessing everything again, which doesn't help.
I also signed up for Yuletide, and holy shit. I am so hyped for my assignment. I hope it comes out as good as I want it to be in my head.

Trini shrieked as the Megazord’s arm crashed to the ground. The Dragonzord faltered. Tommy tried to support himself with the drill staff, but it snapped in half. As the Dragonzord careeened towards the ground, Tommy popped the hatch on his cockpit and jumped free of the wreckage.
“That’s it,” Dramole said, “flee your precious Zords. Know your destruction is coming.”
“Shut the fuck up!” AJ screamed, trying to ram Dramole’s legs again. The monster reared up and tossed the Tigerzord aside. She smashed into another building, and the Zord didn’t move again.
“AJ!” Jason called into the team’s radio. “Amelia! Are you okay?”
“Come on, AJ, say something,” Tommy urged.
Nothing but static came back at first, followed half a minute later by, “I’m going to fucking kill that thing.”
Jason blew out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding. As long as his girlfriend was still alive, and so was the rest of his team, then the fight couldn’t be lost. Not until they’d drawn their last breath. The Megazord wobbled. “Abandon ship, guys,” Jason said, his voice tight. “We can’t stay in here if he’s going to melt it all to shit.”
Whimpering, Zack jumped out first. “Don’t touch the melty bits, guys! It burns!”
“Why the fuck did you touch it?!” Trini screamed, hitting the ground next to him.
“I didn’t mean to, okay? When your seat starts melting beneath your ass, it’s not like you get a choice in the matter!”
“Save it for later, guys!” Kim joined them, crouching beside them. “We can’t defeat this guy without the Zords.”
